To make a wooden chest with your own hands you will need:
- furniture board;
- saw (jigsaw);
- two-component adhesive;
- putty (for woodwork);
- paint (preferably acrylic, color - caramel, brown, black, white);
- powder “gold”;
- special spatula to simulate a cut of wood;
- flour, milk, a little beeswax;
- a stencil of paper or plastic with an image suitable for the theme;
- glue for gold leaf, as well as gold potal;
- strong rope;
- a drill, a nozzle for a “feather” drill;
- furniture rollers;
- leather belts;
- door hinges.
Starting a fabrication job do-it-yourself wooden chest, prepare all the necessary materials and arrange them so that they are at hand.
- The first stage is cutting out the pattern of the details of the chest from the furniture board. Where the parts will be joined, we saw out the spikes for connection to the lock.
- At the second stage, we connect the castle joints with glue.
- We cover it completely with plaster, both inside and out. Let's dry well.
- Next construction operation do-it-yourself pirate chest - painting. Evenly apply caramel paint on top, both inside and out.
- Now it’s time to give the chest a “special” look. To do this, add the flour mixed with milk to the brown paint, mix thoroughly and with a brush thick (resembling sour cream)
- Paint is applied to the outer surface of the chest with rough strokes. Immediately take a putty knife and draw over the applied paint, creating the effect of the wood texture that has come out.

- White paint is applied to the cover through a stencil.
- We apply glue for gold leaf on the inside.
- From the inside we paste over the chest with a potala.
- Outside we cover with wax, in which golden powder is added.
- It remains only to polish the surface with a swab of fabric, and glaze it with black paint.
- Final Stage - Assembly do-it-yourself pirate chest. We fix the rollers to the bottom, and we put the cover on the door hinges.
- We drill two holes in the lid. We pass a rope through them and tie them with sea knots. And finally, with leather straps we wrap around the chest on both sides of the picture.
