Where is the best place for the machine?
The main requirements for installing the washing machine are: proximity to communications (water and sewage), the presence of an outlet with grounding and a flat floor surface.
In order not to regret the transfer, follow the rules:
- do not allow the closeness of the washing machine to other household appliances: vibration is harmful to the refrigerator and the oven;
- in no case do not install the machine under the hob - high temperature will ruin its plastic parts;
- a washing machine and dishwasher can be located next to each other if there is a gap between them and vibration during the spin cycle will not be transmitted to the dishwasher;
- water and sewer hoses should be no more than 2.5-3 meters in length, this will reduce the possibility of leaks and blockages in them;
- when placing the washer inside the drawer, it is necessary to leave a gap of 2 cm on each side to account for vibration;
- take care of installing a base that is easy to remove so that you can get to the drain filter if necessary.
Installation methods
The choice depends on the design of the kitchen under the washer, the model and preferences of each family. The built-in washing machine in the kitchen will remain invisible to prying eyes, the classic version with side loading can be hidden under the facade or make an accent, the device with vertical loading needs a separate space, but there is an option for installing it under the countertop.
Built-in washing machine in the kitchen under the countertop without a door
A conventional machine is installed in an empty niche between modules. For it, you do not need to order a special box, but you should take care of harmony in the interior in advance. So that the appearance does not catch the eye, choose a model that matches the color and style of other household appliances or kitchen furniture, which is nice to show.
Dimensions are no less important than design: a model is considered to be successful 2-3 cm below the countertop and already 5-6 cm niche. Calculate the depth so that there is room for connection.
Due to the need for gaps on the sides, slots will be visible constantly: to avoid this, choose another option.
The washing machine which is built in a kitchen set behind a facade
The range of embedded models is small, and the price is quite high, but the built-in washing machine is almost invisible in the kitchen.
The stationary model can also be hidden behind the door. The requirements for dimensions and clearances in this case are the same as for installation without a door. But in this case, depth is also important: at the back there should be a place for a hose with water, and at the front - for installing the facade, taking into account a gap of 2.5 cm.
Tip: loading and unloading linen is more comfortable when the door opens 110 or more degrees.
Stationary location
Variants of kitchens with a washing machine are not limited to embedding.
In the spacious kitchen or studio, you can equip a special laundry area, separating it with a curtain or door. A narrow model installed at the end of the kitchen set will save space in a small kitchen.
The washing machine in the closet
There are several options for implementing this idea:
- Kitchen cabinet with hinged doors. If you make it 20-25 cm wider than necessary, you can organize the storage of detergents.
- The lower sector of the pencil case. Any model will enter the cabinet under the order, and on top there will be free space for everything you need.
- Built-in closet. Close the empty niche with doors and you can get a roomy space for the washing area.
Tip: Provide a clearance on the left so that nothing interferes with the powder tray and air conditioner.
Placement of a vertical loading machine
A similar model is placed stationary, built in under the folding tabletop or put in a cabinet.
In the first case, the appearance of the device can negatively affect the interior, in the second - it will not always be convenient to use it. When located in a cabinet, it is necessary to leave a place on top for comfortable loading and unloading.
Options for different layouts
A corner kitchen with a washing machine is the most common option, in which the machine can be placed both near the sink, and at the end of the headset or under the window.
In a direct kitchen, it is installed closer to the sink to accommodate the rest of the appliances or built into a pencil case.
A two-row kitchen set provides more opportunities for comfortable placement of all necessary appliances: a sink, a washing machine and a dishwasher are placed on one side, creating a compact “wet zone”, everything else is on the other.
The place for installing the washing machine in the U-shaped kitchen depends on the size and layout. Do not install it further than 3 meters from the pipe outlet.
Location Features for a Small Kitchen
In Khrushchev, where the workplace is often not enough, the washer should be placed under the working area. The washing machine in a small kitchen is covered with a facade or set openly - the main thing is that it fits the size.
In the corner kitchen set, it is convenient to place the machine near the sink on the other side of the stove and oven. The linear layout also involves a place for the washing machine at the sink, separated by a section from the hob.
Do not place electrical appliances or other items on the countertop above the washing machine - they may fall and be damaged due to vibration.
