Color selection rules
Sink refers to the final details of the design of the kitchen. This means that its color and material are selected last, when the wall decoration and furniture are already defined.
- Colored sinks are more suitable for modern stylistic trends. Red can be combined with a hi-tech brick wall, and yellow can reflect the bright colors of pop art. But green or blue will, by the way, complement the Provence.
- The tone needs to be selected to the color of appliances, kitchen facades or an apron.
- The sink and faucet must match each other in style and gamut.
- When choosing, it is also worth considering the practicality and coloriness of the color, for example, if you have a dishwasher, you will be less likely to use a sink for washing dishes.
What should the color of the wash go with?
- Countertop. The shade of the sink can be matched to the color of the countertop or several tones lighter or darker. She can also make a bright accent, standing out clearly against the background of the work surface. Consider a combination of a white surface and a red sink, or a black stone countertop and a contrasting white sink.
- Kitchen set. The white facades of the cabinets will be in harmony with the snow-white coating of the sink on a brown or black countertop. Blue facades and a sink will be combined with a white work surface. White-green box doors in a checkerboard pattern allow you to set both green and lime. It is also worth considering the shades of the area for eating.
- The overall color scheme of the kitchen. The main rule that most designers use is the concept of three colors. A larger number will already create an atmosphere of conglomeration and disorder. Identify the 3 main shades combined 60:30:10. For example, if the walls of the kitchen are painted white, pick up similar appliances and plumbing accessories, arrange brown facades and a dining area and dilute everything with 10 percent bright green light-colored textiles. The color of the sink should be in harmony with all the details of the interior: fabric surfaces, kitchen units (facades and countertops), decor, wall decoration, ceiling, floor.
- Equipment. The selection of kitchen appliances and sinks in one color creates a complete, unobtrusive picture. The most common option is a metal or white surface. A light fridge, a light faucet, a similar kettle and a food processor will breathe cleanliness and freshness into the kitchen. The gray tone of the metallic can create a full-fledged high-tech, loft, minimalism or modern. Although the technique and the sink in blue, plum, yellow will also create an unusual atmosphere, it is not an easy task to choose the same tone for all the components.
We consider practicality
In the case of color washers, it is better to prefer the one where the colorant is added to the structure of the material itself. This will guarantee that the color will remain for many years, it will not be spoiled by grease and dirt spraying, and in case of chips, restoration is possible.
What colors of sinks are popular now?
Products made of quartz sand or marble chips and colorant make it possible to obtain any desired shade, unchanged for at least 30 years of use.
The colors of natural stone sinks were created by nature itself: coal-black, gray, beige, bright yellow, green, their combinations and impregnations.
Stainless steel is one of the most popular materials, titanium spraying allows you to get in addition to gray steel also bronze, copper and brass tones.
Ceramic products do not limit the designer’s imagination and are presented in all possible color directions.
Despite the listed variety, traditional shades remain popular: white, gray, metallic. These are universal colors, they are suitable for the formation of any style and combine perfectly with the entire color spectrum.
