Features of interior design in eco-style
Color scheme
The ecological orientation of the style sets, first of all, the colors used in the decoration. As a rule, these are the shades that we find in nature: sand, earthy, grassy, coniferous, terracotta, blue, white.
Only “acidic” shades and harsh color combinations are excluded. They are inappropriate in such a design - because the interior in an eco-style is conducive to rest, relaxation, everything should contribute to this.
Materials
A room in an eco-style is finished off as much as possible with natural materials, as an exception - with their imitation. First of all, this is a tree, a rock, cork, terracotta, ceramics, glass, paper, wicker from a vine or rattan panels, mats.
- Walls can be finished with paper wallpapers with images of plant motifs, or laid out with cork panels - both of them support the eco-style of the room, but the first option is much cheaper. Stucco, painted or whitewashed, is also an environmentally friendly wall covering.
- The ceilings either covered with whitewash, or covered with wallpaper for painting, or trimmed with wood.
- Floors most often made of wood or trimmed with stone or ceramic tiles.
Furniture
For an apartment in an eco-style, wooden furniture of a simple form, quite massive, is suitable, and the form should be as natural as possible - either straight and even rough, or, on the contrary, smooth, imitating the natural bends found in nature. In the first case, the texture of the tree should be as simple as possible, its processing - minimal. In the second, careful processing and polishing of wood is permissible. Another suitable type of furniture is wicker items made of twigs, rattan, bamboo.
Lighting
As much natural light as possible is an essential requirement for an ecological interior. If it is not enough, you need to add artificial lighting. Lamps in the design can be "invisible" - built-in, creating a luminous flux that complements the light from the windows, as well as decorative ones - with lampshades from textile, rice paper or vines, with elements in the form of tree branches or animal horns.
Eco-style: decor and interior design
Eco-style does not like piling up objects, in this sense it is close to minimalism - because in nature there is nothing superfluous. Therefore, decor items "in combination" usually perform utilitarian functions. For example, wicker baskets and chests in the interior become convenient storage places. Simple homespun rugs give exclusivity and warm stone floors, a bright pumpkin becomes a colorful accent of design and at the same time serves as a lampshade for the lamp.
Unusual “paintings” made of stone and wood, beautiful pebbles folded in a glass vase, mirror frames with shell designs, river pebbles laid out in the bathroom in the form of a rug - it’s hard to even list all the possible decorative elements available in eco-style.
A perfect complement to the interior will be a fireplace - both “live” and “bio”, or even its imitation - logs stacked in a pile in a suitable niche.
Living greenery is another “tool” of the designer, with the help of which you can revive the simplest interior or turn an ordinary room into a corner of the rainforest.
The eco-friendly textile design also features natural materials and colors. The material for furniture upholstery, sofa cushions, as a rule, is chosen rough, textured - linen, jute. Window curtains are often replaced with roller blinds or bamboo blinds.
Main rule - observance of a sense of proportion. It is impossible to oversaturate an interior with a decor, no matter how “right” and appropriate for the occasion. Otherwise, you can get the opposite of the expected result.
Eco-friendly living room interior
When designing a living room in an eco-style, it is advisable to use only natural materials, if this is not possible, it is worth replacing them with imitation. The usual "plastic" windows do not fit into the style at all, so it is better to make the frames wooden. Budget replacement - plastic "wood-like".
You can’t stand the whole design in one style, from furniture to little things. To create a style, sometimes a few expressive details are enough - the main thing is that everything else does not contradict the main idea.
Eco Style Bedroom Design
The most intimate room in the house belongs only to you, and its design should be such that you can relax and unwind. Nothing distracting, causing stress or irritating the nervous system.
For designing a bedroom in an eco-style, several style-forming elements are quite enough, as well as natural decorative materials or natural motifs in the decoration of walls and textiles. A wooden bed, a woolen rug under your feet, warm beige tones of the walls, light cotton curtains - the image of an eco-style bedroom is ready.
The design of the kitchen in an eco-style
And again - natural materials in the decoration, simple shapes, textile elements ... But all the same - the characteristic features of the country style. What is the main difference? Country style allows saturation with small elements in the design - a variety of "folk" objects: painted dishes, clay figures, curtains with frills, decorative pillows, chair covers. In eco-style, such excesses are unacceptable.
In the kitchen, like in no other room of the house, it is important to observe the principles of minimalism - nothing more! Do you want to emphasize the proximity to nature and make the interior truly unusual? Pick up an accent lamp, and at the same time use it as an element that separates the functional areas of the kitchen. The easiest way is to add eco-elements to the decoration, for example, decorating plain walls with large floral ornaments or wooden saw cuts.
Kitchen furniture is preferable to simple forms, not only wood can be used as material, but also, for example, transparent plastic - it will not “interfere” with the stylistic “picture”, “dissolve” in space. Such "disappearing" furniture can be supplemented with several "heavy" items - this will balance the interior.
Eco-friendly bathroom interior
Minimalism, natural colors, space and a lot of light - this is how the design of a bathroom in an eco-style should look. Sometimes it’s enough to choose only the right facing material and add a color accent with bright towels - and an unforgettable image is ready.
Wooden bathroom trim and simple forms of plumbing add up in a natural eco-style. Eco-style in the design of the bathroom allows the use of imitation materials. For example, porcelain stoneware tiles “look like wood” in “wet” areas will look good, moreover, it is much more practical than wood even treated with special compounds. The use of ceramic tiles is also encouraged, and outside of wet areas - plaster, followed by staining with moisture-resistant paints.
The bathroom is where a single piece can make style. For example, it can be a unique stone sink or a tub in the form of a pelvis. There are more budget options for design - for example, a piece of floor lined with sea pebbles, which at the same time serves as a massage mat. Well, if at the same time in the bathroom - "warm" floor.
Eco-friendly modern homes
The eco style has long stepped over the thresholds of apartments and climbed out. The exterior of the house, reflecting the desire of the owner to get as close to nature as possible - is the spirit of the times. And if earlier designers were content to make walls of timber or logs, or laid out their lower parts with a “wild” stone, now the task is wider: they try to “fit” the house into the surrounding landscape, which sometimes leads to very eccentric design decisions. For example, some houses literally burrow into the ground, or “hang on the branches” in an attempt to merge with nature.
The modern eco-style is not only environmental materials, it is also the possibility of their disposal, and causing minimal damage to nature during the construction and operation, and creating the most comfortable living environment for humans.
Eco-friendly interior photo
In the photo below - eco-style in various variations for houses and premises for various purposes.
Photo 1. The combination of wood, soft natural shades of gray and white, and the inclusion of window space in the interior - these are the characteristic features of the eco-style of this bedroom.
Photo 2. Warm “creamy” shade of walls and floors, wooden furniture, simple shapes of lamps, minimalist approach to space equipment - these features of eco-style make the atmosphere memorable and at the same time calm.
Photo 3. The eco-style in the interior of the children's room is emphasized by a wicker chair and wallpaper with natural patterns.
Photo 4. Complex "natural" forms of wood in the interior emphasize the environmental focus of the project.
Photo 5. The design of the living room of a country house used several decorative elements of eco-style at once. This is an accent stone wall by the fireplace, firewood folded in special niches, and a window view, included in the interior with the help of huge window openings.
Photo 6. Wooden wall cladding near the head, bedside wooden tables, simple natural fabrics - the basis of eco-style in the design of a small bedroom.
Photo 7. The ecological orientation of the bathroom interior is given by a small wooden pedestal and live greenery on the wall.
Photo 8. In this interior, only one element "makes" the style. Wooden bars forming a “coffee table” with a bouquet of color make an expressive ecological composition.
Photo 9. A chandelier made of birch branches can be the only bright decorative element in interior design in an eco-style.
Photo 10. A simple rectangular-shaped sofa in neutral upholstery against a background of green walls and wooden floors could stand in a room of any style. An ecological focus is given to the interior by saw cuts from wood at the dining area and an original shelving with flowers.
