Mounting Guidelines
Different types of curtains correspond to a certain type of fasteners. For example, products with hooks are illogical to hook with the help of crabs, and curtains of a rolled look cannot be hung on hooks. But there are general tips on how to choose a mount:
- It is recommended to think over the method of hanging curtains at the repair stage.
- The method of placement of the curtains should correspond to the interior of the room - on the ledge, strong rope, ceiling, Velcro, etc.
- If this cornice, then you need to select it in the tone of furniture or flooring. Usually rings, loops, drawstrings, clamps or eyelets are attached to it. At low ceilings, it is better to mount the cornice directly to the ceiling and choose the hooks on the rollers as fasteners. Installing a ceiling structure will visually make the room taller.
- It is better not to hang heavy and large curtains on plastic fastening accessories, but rather prefer reliable metal ones.
- It is advisable to design a narrow window opening with curtains on a long round cornice.
Methods for attaching curtains
- To the cornice. Classical placement of fabric cloths. A large selection of such products is presented on the modern market. They differ in shape, assembly, material and color scheme. The structure can be mounted both to the wall and to the ceiling.
- Fixing systems without cornice. If the design does not involve cornices, then the curtains are attached directly to the windows, ceiling or wall. As accessories, iron or transparent PVC hooks, a rigid rope, adhesive tape and even a dry processed branch can act. There are no restrictions, it all depends on the imagination of the designer.
Mounting Options
- Ceiling. One of the most common places for installation. Ideal for rooms with low floors.
- Wall. A classic place to fasten curtains. Almost any fastener can be mounted on it. This format is mainly used for weighty and fabric paintings.
- Casement. More often placed on it rolled, roman and bamboo models, as well as textile and metal jalousie.
- Frame. As with the previous version, it involves the placement of miniature curtains, which can be conveniently folded.
Types of mountings to the cornice
Mounting curtains on the drawstring
The design is a kind of pocket through which passes a tubular or string cornice. With this installation method, the top of the curtains or curtains is invisible.
This type of fastening is not suitable for heavy fabrics that are used in classic or baroque. Curtains on the sidelines are most often found in rustic styles.
Velcro
This method is used when the movement of the curtains along the pipe is not assumed (Roman, lambrequins, japanese panels) Looks good in the style of minimalism, where conciseness is welcomed. On grommets
These are rings that are sewn directly into the fabric base of curtains. It looks aesthetically pleasing and exclusive. In terms of durability and practicality, they have no equal. Such curtains are able to withstand heavy loads - they can not be cut off, except perhaps with a cornice.
This type of curtain fastening is not only practical, but also universal, as it fits any style of interior: from modern to classic. It is easy to fix such curtains - the tubular cornice is simply threaded through the rings.
On the rings
One of the most common types of fixtures for curtains to the cornice. It is a ring with hooks or clips that can hold very difficult types of fabric. Sometimes rings are sewn to matter, and if necessary, curtains are removed with them.
Such fasteners for curtains can be found both in classic styles and in modern ones: in Scandinavian, fusion and contemporary. Country style and Provence rings would also be appropriate.
Hinged
Convenient and practical installation option. The hinges can be made independently, and for attaching the curtains to a pipe or rail, you just need to pass them through the cornice. There are also loops on fasteners (buttons or Velcro), which simplifies the removal of curtains.
This option is suitable for any interior if the hinges are made of the same material as the curtains. In the children's room, loops contrasting in color will look unusual.
Magnetic
The point type of fastening in which the curtains on the ledge hold decorative magnets. Suitable for modern interiors. Magnets can be invisible or, on the contrary, stand out with an original design. Despite the reliability of tissue fixation, they are not suitable for heavy canvases.
Braid
Equipped with several rows of loops. Fastening curtains to windows using hinges is suitable for weighty curtains. Thanks to the built-in lace, they can be draped, exposing the required wave depth. Looks great in classic interiors.
On tape
Pretty simple way to mount the canvas. The tape is invisible and pulled together, creating a picturesque drapery. Suitable for different types of curtains, looks good on modern plastic cornices without unnecessary decorative elements.
On the hooks
The most inexpensive option. It has many varieties, among which the French hook for curtains "snail". Not suitable for overweight fabric curtains.
On clothespins
Clips, also called “crocodile” or “crab”, are made of metal or plastic. They are universal in that they easily fix the fabric and make it possible to adjust the length of the curtain, make folds, etc.
In the ties
Convenient decorative mount that you can make yourself. Suitable for mounting light and medium density fabric cloths.The ties look very romantic, so this decor is appropriate in rustic styles (country, Provence), as well as children's rooms.
Types of fixing without cornice
- Universal fastenings for shutters (arms). Compact fastener, used to accommodate roller blinds and blinds, as well as horizontal blinds.
- Velcro. This method does not imply a gap between the curtain and the wall. Suitable for rooms where complete blackout is required.
- With the help of screws. Universal and easy installation method.
- Double sided tape. A practical handy way to hang fabric and other paintings on the casement without drilling. Not reliable enough and not able to withstand heavy loads.
